Hello all,
Astros make more off season news Friday when the club traded Second Baseman Chris Burke, Relievers Chad Qualls and Juan Gutierrez to the Diamondbacks in exchange for closer Jose Valverde.
According the Astros.com,
Valverde, 28, was 1-4 with a 2.66 ERA and a Major League-leading 47 saves for the Diamondbacks in 2007. His 47 saves also […]

Hello all,
Well as we reported earlier, the Astros were looking at getting SS Tejada.  Well it’s official now, the Astros sent pitchers Troy Patton, Matt Albers, along with Luke Scott, Dennis Sarfate and Michael Costanzo to Baltimore for Tejada.
Miguel Tejada has been looking for “change of scenery” for a while according ESPN and now he’s […]

The Houston Astros announced that they signed second baseman Kaz Matsui for a 3 year for 16.5 million dollars. This is the first deal by Ed Wade that I really don’t care about. Matsui is a good defender, and has speed. However, there is one stat from last season scares me. […]

The Astros signed Jose Cruz, Jr. to a minor league contract.
This should appeal to fans since he is the son of an Astro Legend, and the legend still works for the club.  Cruz can give us some defensive depth for the outfield since he can play all three positions.  Not the hitter he once was, […]

Jeff Bagwell Day!

Today, Houston City Council annonced that January 30, 2007 is Jeff Bagwell day!  Happy Bagwell Day!

Richard Hidalgo recently signed a minor league contract becoming a Houston Astro again.  His best year was with the Astros back in 2000 when he hit .314, 44 homeruns and 122 RBIs.  I think this is a good signing.  Since it is a minor league contract, we are not risking a lot.  If can still […]

The Astros avoided arbitration with Mike Lamb when he agreed to one year contract for 2.7 million. I’m personally happy about this signing. I think Lamb is a valuable left-handed bat to come off the bench. He can play both third and first if needed.
The Astros have four players that remain available […]

If there ever was a game that summed up problems with our Houston Astros, it was yesterday’s. Usually, we have come to expect our offense to become more catatonic than they normally are when Roger pitches. Now in this game, they finally score for him, and we should cruise to victory, the bullpen […]

MASH Unit

Morgan Ensberg and Chris Burke both are nursing injuries. Ensberg missed a games over the weekend with a stiff shoulder and Burke left yesterday after being plunked. Both injuries don’t appear to be serious. Burke must have thought the pitcher plunked the wrong Killer B.

In the Houston Chronicle dated 6/12, there was a great line…..
Never-Ending Story
Wrote Bud Geracie in the San Jose Mercury News:
“Johnny Drennen is the Class A kid who homered off Roger Clemens…..and his unborn grandchildren already tired of the story.”
