The archive of obsolete computers
Closed Published by mikemcguff December 19th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blogI’ve written about my Commodore 128 in the past. Now you can look it up or any other old computers that probably have been junked a long time ago.
I should have saved the 128. Can you imagine me writing this blog on the 300 baud modem? If I still had it, I would run a 713 BBS off it.

VIDEO: Why many TV people aren’t worried about video on newspapers
Closed Published by mikemcguff December 18th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blogI actually watch video pieces on newspaper web sites. Some are good, some are not. I think most TV news folks aren’t too worried about the new online video competition at this point though. That will eventually change I predict.
In the meantime, here is an example of some newspaper video that isn’t scaring anyone in television.
(Thanks Michael Penix )
Michael adds: This was the biggest game in Oklahoma high school football this year…for the 6A state title. It was not a joke piece…or at least we don’t think it was meant to be.
And the Shorty Award goes too…
Yes someone has actually started awards for Twitter called the Shorty Award:
The Shorty Awards honor the world’s top Twitterers. You can nominate as many people for as many categories as you’d like until midnight December 31st. READ MORE

James is on Santa’s nice list?
Closed Published by mikemcguff December 17th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blogI showed you how I took over the Disney them park the other day, today The Mouse is helping us see if little James is on the naughty or nice list.
This video clearly shows us his picture and name on the nice list!
SEE JAMES WITH SANTA AND ADD YOUR KID IN
I have to hand it to Disney, the fact that they are letting Internet users insert photos and names into web videos is a genius marketing trick. What better way to reach out to folks than to customize ads for them to virally send to family, friends and coworkers? Can you imagine the amount of people these campaigns are reaching by email alone?
In full disclosure I work for Disney but was not asked to post this item. In fact I found out about this one by word of mouth.

Dr Pepper Icee location in Target at Eldridge and 1960
Closed Published by mikemcguff December 17th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blogAfter the Houston Press mentioned my Dr Pepper Icee advocacy work, Sally wrote into the old blog and let me know about another location.
She says the Target at Eldridge and 1960 has the slushy brown stuff on tap.
Thanks Sally!
Of course you can always let me know where the Dr Pepper Icee locations are (or Coke/Pepsi Icees too if no DP is around) by email, blog comment, Twitter or Facebook.
Don’t forget to see the Google Map Matt Bramanti made from my lists. Matt, here is another one to add!

Former KTRK 13 guy makes a movie
Closed Published by mikemcguff December 16th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blog
First of all, I don’t know Marc Adler, never have. But the Houston Press says he was a former KTRK Channel 13 intern and now is the creator of a new animated movie called Delgo.
More from The Houston Business Journal :
“Delgo” is being released in more than 2,000 theaters nationwide, including about 30 in the Houston area, on Dec. 12.
“Delgo” is the first animated feature-length film from Atlanta-based Fathom Studios, a division of Macquarium Intelligent Communications, an interactive agency Adler started in 1991 in his dorm room while attending Emory College in Atlanta.
The film is about a carefree teenager who forms a forbidden friendship with a spunky princess. Hostilities between their two peoples escalate, setting the stage for an exiled empress to exact her revenge and reclaim her rule. READ MORE
See the movie’s Web site. The movie has won a lot of prizes around the world already.
