Murdock tipped me off to a new site. It’s called Slydial and lets you bypass the human and go straight to his/her voice mail.  It’s for the anti-social person in us all.

  1. Dial 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone.
  2. At the voice prompt, enter the U.S. mobile phone number of the person you want to slydial.
  3. You will be directly connected to their voicemail. Leave them a voicemail, sit back and relax.

Oak Ridge vs Caney Creek photos

I’m back out shooting Houston area high school football games.

Thursday night I took a drive up I-45 to the new Woodforest Bank Stadium to photograph the Oak Ridge vs Caney Creek game. You read that right, a high school football stadium with professional naming rights. This could be a first for the Houston area.

SEE THE PHOTOS

It got dark for awhile because the lights did not turn on.

I got this in the mail and thought I would pass it on:

Sakurambo, a small non-profit located in the heart of Third Ward, continues to help many of our Houston children overcome some huge challenges - physically, mentally and emotionally.

Now, Sakurambo is asking for your support of its 3rd Annual ‘For the Kids’ Fundraiser - the school’s primary fundraiser.

The event happens Sunday, December 14, 2008, 4:00 p.m. at the Houston Club located at 611 Rusk in Downtown Houston.

Honorary Chairs are: Houston council member and mayor pro-tem Adrian Garcia, former council member and attorney Gracie Saenz and KRIV-TV’s vice president of news Kathy Williams.

Thomas Jones, Jr., founding partner of McConnell Jones Lanier & Murphy LLP, will join us as special guest speaker. KTRK-TV’s award-winning anchor Melanie Lawson will serve as mistress of ceremonies.

Your support of this event helps further Sakurambo’s mission of providing all children the opportunity to develop and enhance their character development - leadership skills, self-discipline and self-esteem. Students also increase their physical fitness and mental wellness. We thank you for your support!

Austin drummer jailed as ‘narco-terrorist’
Jake Mitchell, the drummer for Austin’s Boxing Lesson, was sentenced a couple of weeks ago to 60 months in federal prison on marijuana charges. What makes Mitchell’s case particularly unsettling is that he was charged under the Patriot Act and has been branded a Narco-Terrorist.

Houston area high school football action is back and I spent a lot of last week building a section so you can keep track of it all.

GO SEE IT

Other stations around the country farm out high school football sections to entire teams of folks in other cities, I insist on doing ours myself!  That’s because I am crazy.

Are you hot or not to work retail?

The Dallas Morning News has an interesting article on how the employees of Abercrombie & Fitch say there is a hotness scale managers use to hire people for the floors of the stores:

There’s no in between. You’re either Abercrombie hot – or you’re not.

Kristen Carmichael discovered she didn’t fit the clothing store’s self-described “sexy, effortless style” when she was pulled from a sales position on the floor of the NorthPark Center store and shoved back to the stockroom to fold clothes.

This was after they’d rated her face.READ THE REST

I bet I would rate a zero!  I don’t look like that dude on the billboard.

Drink a McGuff

I don’t know what this is, but would you drink it?  The only drink I am really known for is a Dr. Pepper Icee and that’s only for tracking it.

I can tell you I like to make another drink.  When I am at a lunch spot and can mix my own fountain drinks, I fill the cup with 3/4 Diet Coke and 1/4 regular Dr. Pepper.  Try it and tell your friends you are having a McGuff!

The Dark Knight Returns script has been sold to members of the public and the pages have the answer on if Harvey Dent (who becomes Two Face) returns in the next Batman film.
