Big tech news roundup

OK, I thought the headline for this post was pretty funny when I put it up there.  Dallas KDFW Fox 4 anchor Baron James gets interviewed by the Dallas Morning News and talks about how fashion is therapy for him:

“Murder, death, destruction? Come on. The good news starts when I put on a pair of pink socks,” he says, pointing to his radioactively fuchsia Polo socks. “If I am caught up in the pain of the story, I may just look down at my socks and think, ‘Ahhh – all is right with the world.’” READ THE REST

Thanks to Baron James and this article I now know that Ralph Lauren’s  birth name is Ralph Lifschitz.

Hot of the email, I just received a note about our Stylepointer blogger friend’s latest appearance on the radio:

David Yarbrough, a Houston-based blogger for men’s fashion blog Style Points and contributing writer for Houston Modern Luxury’s Men’s Book, will talk with Ralph Cooper on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Yarbrough will arrive at the KCOH studios at 5:30pm. KCOH Radio 1430 AM, established in 1953, is Texas’ oldest urban radio station, serving the Houston area.

There are the serious categories to the ones we really want to know about. Did you know that Brigham Young University (UT) is tops in the category Scotch and Soda, Hold the Scotch?

Folk music might be an acquired taste for some, but Flying Fish Sailors have found a way to bring that traditional sound to the masses, with lively melodies and clean, unencumbered […]

I have never really worked in retail except for a temporary college summer job at a big HMO in Houston. The rest of my career has all been media where we try to wall ourselves off from the customer (the Web is changing that).

But if you have worked in retail, you will like the site Not Always Right:

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of working in retail, service or other public-facing jobs, you’ve inevitably come across that occasional customer that either makes your blood boil, tickles your funny bone or leaves you totally confused. We all need a place to vent, so Not Always Right is a collection of quotes from these particularly memorable customers.

 It’s a pretty funny read.
