I am not now, nor have I ever been a Starbucks loyalist. That being said, I consume (on average) one Venti coffee purchased at a Starbucks each day. Not so much because their coffee is good, which it usually is, but because it’s consistent.
From day to day I am Mr. Routine. For years I […]

If Senator Barack Obama is elected as president, he has some big plans for the United States media:
Q: What prompted you to weigh in on media ownership and diversity at an FCC field hearing in Chicago (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6480419.html) last year?
A: I strongly favor diversity of ownership of outlets and protection against the excessive concentration of power in the hands of any one corporation, interest or small group. I strongly believe that all citizens should be able to receive information from the broadest range of sources. I feel that media consolidation during the Bush administration has had the effect of eliminating a lot of the diversity of information sources available to persons who have to rely on more traditional information sources, such as radio and television broadcasts and newspapers. When I was in LA, I noticed that many of the billboards are digital now. That means one billboard can carry constantly changing ads. The technology is good enough that the message isn’t lost in the bright sun too. READ MORE
I’m sure we will see these soon in Houston since there is always the fight about the large number of billboards that are already up in the city.

Guns n’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy” Leaker Gets FBI Visit
The blogger known as Skwerl, who leaked Chinese Democracy songs, was surprised to find himself face to face with two FBI agents who paid a visit to his day job. “It was kind of an ambush,” Skwerl tells Rolling Stone. “When I came back from lunch they were waiting in the lobby for me. Motley Crue - Saints Of Los Angeles review
Much of Saints rocks with the same raucous fun as their Eighties albums, delivering glam guitars and arena-size choruses on cuts like the wickedly catchy “Down at the Whisky.”

Houston police blogging to recruit cops
Closed Published by mikemcguff June 24th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blog
In my latest article, I interviewed Officer Mike McCoy of HPD who has started the Houston Police Department Recruiting Blog.
It’s no secret the Houston police are short around 1,000 officers, so the department is employing some out of the box thinking for such a huge organization and going straight to the potential recruits.
McCoy lays down the reason for the shortage and gives us an interesting glimpse into the recruiting and Houston Police Department academy experience.
