100 Years Ago Today

Today is the 100th anniversary of the explosion that flattened some 500,000 acres of Siberian forest near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River on June 30, 1908
Commonly referred to as the “Tunguska Event” it is widely accepted that the explosion was the result of an air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment at an altitude […]

Skyrocket

Trish and Darren Murphy’s current musical project “Skyrocket” performed at the Houston Continental Club on Friday night to a packed house. The group is made up of a fantastic batch of Texas musicians and the performance is nothing less than spectacular.
Of course you must like 70’s and 80’s cover tunes because that’s what they play, […]

Houston station wants bad TV

Ken Hoffman writes how Channel 55 The Tube KTBU is activly looking for bad TV sitcoms.  Not a bad idea.

JaredRemembered.com

This site has been going around the Internet, but it is a fake.  Good thing too. I’m sure it was built for a contest to see how many morons like me link to it.

I met him once, nice guy. Seems to be about the same in real life as he does on TV.

10 awesome Internet Easter eggs

This is a great article on how web folks are hiding Easter eggs on various Web sites.  Some you’ve probably heard of, others, probably not.

(Thanks Matt!)

Channel 39 has gone by many different names.  In my lifetime, we have seen:

KHTV
KHWB
KHCW

And now David Barron tells us the curtain will raise on KIAH.  Yep, like the airport call sign for Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Will the station ever return to the 39 Gold days? Go ahead, bring back Bosom Buddies, I dare you Tribune.

In other Houston news, I got an email about this one and thought it was funny.  Others obviously did too.  According to the Orlando Sentinel and an entry on Digg, A Houston television web site (we’ll leave it as anonymous unless you link through) supposedly thought that WWE was real. The site reported main man Vince McMahon had a “freak accident” on WWE Monday Night RAW.

If you search for Vince McMahon on the site, you get a story result, but someone has clearly deleted that story. No cache story available.

Blogger in draft REALLY changes

It’s no secret that I like to use Blogger.com as my blogging platform. Many times I use Blogger in Draft to see what new things those crazy Google kids are working on.

They’ve been REALLY busy.

The Blogger Editing Tool looks and acts very differently now.  My only complaint, bring back the WYSIWYG tools to the ‘Edit HTML’ tab.  That makes a big difference.

Here are the details:
New Feature: New Post Editor
New Feature: Embedded Comment Form
Webmaster Tools for Blogger
New Feature: Star Ratings
New Feature: Import and Export
