The Chron has the scoop on the latest Houston TV ratings.
We also learned that Hot 95.7 KKHH is doing well too.
Sorry I haven’t had much time for the old blog in the last day or so. Thursday I was up at 7am and didn’t stop until 1am.
The best thing I did all day was hand out the Elizabeth McGuff Citizenship Award at TH Rogers. That was the school she taught at before she passed away.
I want to thank principal David Muzyka for inviting me.

VIDEO: What happened before the China earthquake
Closed Published by mikemcguff May 29th, 2008 on mikemcguff.com blogWow, this is odd:
Bizarre colorful (luminous/glowing) cloud phenomenon in the sky was observed about 30 mins before the May 12, 2008 Sichuan earthquake took place. This was recorded in Tianshui, Gansu province 450km northeast of epicenter, by someone using a cell phone.
I just talked with a friend who was in Beijing at the time and saw light fixtures start moving. I know that strange things start happening before a tornado strikes. The sky turns green and has an odd swirling appearance.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance says Houston is number 1:
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has named the top ten cities in which to live and work, selecting locales offering strong economies, abundant jobs, reasonable living costs—and fun things to do. This year’s favorites are profiled in the July issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands June 10, and online at www.kiplinger.com/money/bestcities.
To identify the Best Cities of 2008, Kiplinger’s teamed up with Kevin Stolarick, research director at the Martin Prosperity Institute, a think tank that studies economic prosperity. Stolarick helped develop a formula which highlights cities not just with prosperous pasts, but also with the ingredients for future success. “One key to a bright future is a healthy shot of people in the creative class,” says Stolarick. “People in creative fields—scientists, engineers, architects, educators, writers, artists and entertainers—are catalysts of vitality and livability in a city.”
“We know our readers put a premium on affordability, so cost of living was also a key ingredient in our formula,” says Kiplinger’s senior editor Robert Frick. “Another big factor was livability. We wanted places with great entertainment and cool places to live and shop.”
Kiplinger’s Best Cities of 2008:
1. Houston, TX—Back with a roar after the oil bust of the 1980s, Houston has reclaimed its title as energy capital of the U.S. and added aerospace, technology and medical companies to the mix, generating more than 100,000 jobs in 2007.

Russell Holliman shows us the video that all of the cable networks played as NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander made it’s way to the Red Planet.
Hey, not only does the unit study Mars, it Twitters too.
MikeMcGuff.com Blog reader Chance McClain is always making news. First he writes the Yao Ming Song and now it is The Big Puma for Houston Astro Lance Berkman.
You can hear the song here. Heck, download if for free. Pass it around.
