I keep getting secret notes that U.S. Senator Barack Obama is appearing on Second Life.

First I receive this, then I hear he is appearing on Podshow’s new island this Saturday.

The debate is, are these two events connected?

The official campaign of U.S. Senator Barack Obama has authorized a simulcast of a nationwide event in Second Life next week. Forefront Media, a “virtual event and promotions” company which operates in SL, will host the event next Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 PM on their island SoHo.

I emailed Mr. Obama’s presidential campaign about this and never heard back. However they did add my email address to their press release list without permission so I assume they received the inquiry.

What’s behind all this data generosity? Simple: Yahoo’s unprecedented deal is designed to win more eyeballs for the advertising that sponsors its mail system.
